Bread Pudding Recipe
Old fashioned bread pudding with vanilla,bourbon or caramel sauce is an easy and simple homestead recipe to use up eggs, milk and stale bread.

- 8 cups bread, cubed
- ½ cup raisins
- 2 Tbsp bourbon
- 4 eggs
- 2 cup milk
- 2 tsp cinnamon, divided
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ cup sugar + 2 Tbsp
- * Caramel Sauce
- ½ cup Unsalted Butter
- ½ cup Heavy Cream
- ½ cup Brown Sugar
- * Bourbon Sauce
- ¼ cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Combine raisins and 2 tablespoons bourbon in a bowl. Let stand 30 minutes. Drain mixture in a sieve over a bowl, reserve liquid for mixture or sauce.
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, 1 tsp cinnamon, nutmeg, ½ cup sugar and (reserved bourbon- this is optional, you can skip this step if you like).
- Stir in the raisins, then gently fold in the bread cubes. Pour into the prepared pan.
